Ireland / Hong Kong Double Tax Agreement - signed 22 June 2010

Minister for Finance, Mr Brian Lenihan T.D and Professor K. C. Chan, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government signed in Dublin yesterday (22 June 2010) an Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income. The text of the Agreement should shortly be available on the website of the Revenue Commissioners (you should be able to view by clicking here).

After the signing of this Agreement with Hong Kong Ireland has Double Taxation Agreements signed with 56 countries, of which 48 are in force (a full list can be found on the Revenue Commissioners website (click here).  A further 7 agreements have been concluded and are awaiting signature; Armenia, Kuwait, Montenegro, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and United Arab Emirates.   There are a number of other negotiations for new agreements and re-negotiations of existing agreements on-going.
