Shortlisting

All student applications will be reviewed, and a number of those will be short-listed according to the criteria for selection. During the review, the student's eligibility will be assessed, taking into consideration their educational background along with all other areas of their life. Personal achievements will also be a factor in short-listing the candidates.

Unsucessful candidates will be informed in an appropriate manner and may consider applying again in another year.

Interviews


Interviews for short-listed candidates who have achieved the requisite points will be held after publication of the Leaving Certificate results. These interviews will be conducted by members of the Scholarship Committee and other personnel as appropriate.

Candidates must be available to attend for the interview at the designated time.

Notification


The candidate(s) who is/are selected will be notified after the publication of the CAO offers.  The selected candidate(s) must provide documentary proof of their acceptance to third-level education.

Supporting documentation will be required as part of the verification process.  Any necessary checks will be carried out by the ITI to verify information provided in the application form and interview.

Financial information provided on the application form will be subject to verification, and relevant information will be sought from the candidate. Information regarding other funding/scholarships or grants may be required.

Rules of the Scholarship


  • Candidates must have a legal entitlement to remain in Ireland and be eligibile to remain for the duration of their studies and provide proof thereof.
  • Candidates must be available to attend an interview at the designated time.
  • The scholarship cannot be deferred.
  • It is expected that the Scholar would complete the proposed course within the normal time frame.
  • Canvassing by or on behalf of a candidate will result in disqualification.
  • The Scholarship Committee's decision will be final, and the Committee will not be able to enter into correspondence or discussion with unsuccessful candidates.
  • Applications must be received by post by 5.00 pm on the closing date, 31 March 2010. Late applications will not be accepted and incomplete applications will be ineligible.
  • The awarding of the scholarship shall be reviewed on a yearly basis and should the Scholar fail to reach the standards expected and/or engage in behaviour contrary to that expected of an individual in their position, the Scholar may not receive funding for subsequent years.
