Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate
To register as a student, it is necessary to have obtained a minimum of two grade Cs (C2s after 1992) in higher-level papers and three grade Bs (B2s after 1992) in ordinary-level papers in the Leaving Certificate at one sitting. These five subjects must include English and Mathematics.
Other qualifications
The Council of the ITI may, at its discretion, also accept other professional or academic qualifications (including overseas qualifications) where it is satisfied that such qualifications are of a standard that is at least equal to the Leaving Certificate as set out above.
Practical experience
The Council may also consider applications from candidates with at least five years' relevant practical experience achieved before registration. A letter describing this experience and your reasons for wishing to undertake the course should be submitted to the Manager of Education Programmes before registration.
Do I need to be working in tax?
You do not need to be working in tax to register or to sit the exams, nor do we require that you gain practical experience in tax before being admitted as an Associate Member. An increasing number of our students are drawn from a wide range of sectors. Prospective students are not required to procure training contracts with an employer to undertake the AITI course.
