Code of Conduct

The Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Institute envisages the observance of strict rules of conduct as a condition of membership. The Code of Professional Conduct and Recommended Best Practice Guidelines embrace principles that are fundamental to the professional standing of the members of the Institute and also requisite to the public interest.

The Code is binding upon all members, so that failure to comply with them shall render a member or student liable to disciplinary action.

The Code of Professional Conduct, with accompanying Recommended Best Practice Guidelines, sets out the standards expected by the Institute from its members. The disciplinary procedures and sanctions available to the Institute are contained in Bye-Law No. 1. However, it should be noted that the Institute is not a regulatory body.

Members of the Institute approved revised versions of both the Code of Professional Conduct and Recommended Best Practice Guidelines and Bye-Law No. 1 at an EGM on 24 May 2006. The revised documents may be downloaded by clicking the links below.
